Microsoft has patented a modular personal computer

About Modular smartphone we hear over the last few years, a modular tablet and modular smart clock is also no surprise. But how is it that no one came to mind patented modular personal computer? In Russia, the vast majority of users prefer to deal with their own upgrade their PCs, but in the West, many people much easier to buy a whole new system to replace the outdated unit. Microsoft has decided that it is time to put an end to it.

Microsoft filed a patent application on this back in July 2015, and only now, this application has been approved and granted. One of the authors of the patent - Tim Eskolin, corporation chief industrial designer, guidance, including a team that gave the world the tablet Surface, as well as the accompanying accessories. Given that this tablet is slowly but surely gaining popularity among the users, it was a matter of time when Microsoft decides to develop this area of ​​its activities even further.

If you remember, not so long ago the Redmond company has already submitted another modular unit - the game controller Xbox One Elite Controller, which any gamer can customize yourself with the help of the supplied replacement parts. And even earlier, at CES 2014, Microsoft helped to unleash a gaming PC called Project Christine manufactured by Razer. Last September, Acer introduced a modular PC Revo Build Mini PC at a price of 225 dollars, which probably prompted Microsoft to take decisive action, yet no one has taken this market.

You can see in the illustrations that accompany the patent, that the corporation is itself a modular computer as something consisting of layers or boxes inside which contains certain components. For example, one layer carries a processor and memory, while the other is responsible for displaying images on the monitor, and the third contains additional modules. Of course, this patent does not prove that Microsoft is required to build your own modular PC, but the corporation now has a significant trump card up his sleeve, which allows her to sue the producers of any of these modular devices.
