Overweight can cause changes in the brain, adversely affecting the memory. That is the conclusion drawn by researchers from the University of Cambridge.

To study were selected 50 people aged 18 to 35 years. Of these, 26 participants in the experiment, body mass index which (BMI) was less than 25, considered to be thin, and the rest were either overweight (IMT≥25) or obesity (IMT≥30).

For episodic memory evaluation they were asked to pass a special test game in which for some time had studied hide treasures, and then 2 days later to tell what, when and where they hid.

The researchers found that participants with a higher BMI showed significantly worse results. Age, sex and degree of the experiment results are not affected, or their effects were insignificant.

The head of research Lucy Cheka (Lucy Cheke), based on the work of his colleagues, said it is wrong to believe overweight people more forgetful than other people, but if the study results are applicable to episodic memory, then it can follow that the full people are less vividly remember recent events. She claims that people with a high BMI is just harder to remember when and how much food they have used for the last time. This can have an impact on how soon they feel hungry, how likely they would need a snack.

In other words, overweight leads to difficulty remembering how long was the meal, which in turn leads to further overeating and weight gain. It is possible that this may be the main problem of weight loss for many people, the number of which, according to the World Health Organization, more than 1.9 billion.
