On May 6, 2025, at 09:45, the Department of Cybersecurity Management and Information Protection hosted an open lecture for third-year students of the F5 specialty “Cybersecurity and Information Protection” within the educational program “Cybersecurity Management and Information Protection.”

The lecture was delivered by Volodymyr SHULHA, Rector of The State University of Communication and Informational Technologies, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Senior Researcher, and Professor at the Department of Cybersecurity Management and Information Protection.

During the lecture, Professor V. Shulha emphasized that modern society is now operating in a fifth domain – cyberspace. In addition to the traditional domains, cyberspace includes the informational environment (networks, data, and human consciousness) and is shaped at the intersection of both technological and humanitarian disciplines.

He stressed that the ongoing shift toward a materialized environment – formed by digital technologies, information flows, communication platforms, and algorithmic control – where social interaction, knowledge exchange, ideological formation, influence on public consciousness, and both governmental and corporate governance take place, requires a profound understanding of strategic communications.

Effective interaction and communication in cyberspace necessitate the ability to build strategic communications for active and meaningful engagement among individuals and organizations. Social media platforms are key tools in this process. In the business sphere, they serve as the foundation for building strong and lasting relationships with stakeholders, as well as a powerful medium for informing audiences about an organization’s achievements and progress.

The lecture explored major media platforms and their functionalities, with particular attention paid to their features and advantages in the context of strategic communication. Students were actively involved in discussions and integrative analysis of social media as a tool for shaping perception and influencing awareness within the media environment.

Among the attendees were Dr. Yevheniia IVANCHENKO, Director of the Educational and Research Institute of Cybersecurity and Information Protection, department heads, and faculty members of the institute. They praised the lecture for its high academic and methodological quality, rich and relevant content, and the effective delivery methods, which were closely aligned with current challenges and risks emerging in the media landscape due to the spread of threats via social media platforms.
