State University of Communication and Informational Technologies hosted a professional seminar for branch directors of Sense Bank, highlighting the transformative potential of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the banking sector. The event focused on how AI technologies can enhance business efficiency, optimize internal processes, and deliver new value for Sense Bank.
The seminar brought together SUICT Rector Volodymyr Shulha, Alexander Nazarov, Regional Head of Retail Business at Sense Bank (Kyiv Region), as well as representatives of the university’s academic departments and branch managers from the bank.
The event was held at the Sense Lab – a joint experimental laboratory and the first collaborative project between SUICT and Sense Bank, launched in December 2023.
In his welcome speech, Rector Volodymyr Shulha emphasized the innovative nature of the university’s cooperation with Sense Bank and expressed gratitude to the university’s strategic partner for its continued support:
“Thanks to the support of Sense Bank, our students benefit from excellent learning conditions and professional development opportunities. Many of them are currently completing internships or have already begun their careers at the bank’s branches,” he noted.
The seminar “Generative Artificial Intelligence: New Horizons for Sense Bank” was delivered by lecturers from the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Institute of Information Technologies. The speakers introduced the concept of generative AI in a clear and accessible way, highlighting how it differs from discriminative AI and providing an overview of key model types, including GANs, Transformers, and Diffusion Models. They also demonstrated the ability of these models to generate original content – text, images, audio, video, and more.
A significant focus was placed on the practical applications of generative AI in banking.
Tetiana Kysil, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Artificial Intelligence, conducted a hands-on workshop that demonstrated how generative AI can be used to:
Additionally, Serhii Korotkov, Associate Professor, and Nataliia Lashchevska, Head of the Department of Computer Engineering, delivered a demonstration session on 3D printing, explaining its working principles and showcasing the creation of 3D objects using the university’s equipment.
The event was coordinated by Olha Zinchenko, Head of the Department of Artificial Intelligence, who emphasized its strategic significance:
“Our aim is to offer not only theoretical insights but also practical AI use cases for our partners. Events like this strengthen the link between academia and industry, allowing both to respond effectively to the challenges of digital transformation,” she commented.
