Participation in major international forums offers an excellent opportunity to hold high-level meetings and negotiations with potential partners, connect with colleagues from other countries, and establish valuable professional contacts.
Taking advantage of this opportunity, the delegation of the State University of Information and Communication Technologies (SUICT), led by Rector Volodymyr Shulha, participated in a diplomatic reception hosted by the Permanent Mission of Poland to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva, on the occasion of the WSIS+20 Global Summit.
During the event, the SUICT Rector engaged in discussions with senior officials of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and representatives of member states, including:
During these conversations, it was emphasized that SUICT is the only academic member of the ITU from Ukraine, which enables the university to represent the interests of the Ukrainian academic and scientific community in the global digital discourse. The parties discussed the importance of knowledge exchange, youth engagement in innovation, and the pivotal role of universities in driving digital transformation.
Special attention was devoted to the upcoming international conference that SUICT, together with its partners from the University of National Education Commission in Krakow (UKEN), plans to host in Poland under the auspices of the ITU. In dialogue with the representative of the Polish government, the significance of this initiative for strengthening academic cooperation in the region was underlined. The Polish side expressed strong support for the event.
Sincere gratitude was also extended to Ms. Doreen Bogdan-Martin for the invitation to WSIS+20 and for the excellent organization of this landmark event, which provided a unique platform for professional dialogue with global leaders in digital transformation.
Participation in such events enhances SUICT’s standing within the international educational and research community and opens new opportunities for collaborative initiatives in the field of digital technologies.
“We had very productive meetings and discussions on the sidelines of the WSIS+20 Global Summit in Geneva. We are truly grateful to our partners at the ITU and to the team of the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations Office and other international organizations in Geneva for their warm welcome and steadfast support!” – noted Volodymyr Shulha, Rector of SUICT.
