International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Issues of Legal, Economic and Social Development of the State”

On November 22, 2024, Senior Lecturers of the English Department of the Educational and Scientific Institute of Telecommunications of the State University of Information and Communication Technologies Mariya Rostotska and Kateryna Ryabova took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “Modern Issues of Legal, Economic and Social Development of the State”, dedicated to the 30th Anniversary of the Kharkiv National University of Internal Affairs (KNUIA) in the status of a university.

The conference was opened by the Rector of the University, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine Valeriy Sokurenko.

The welcoming speeches were delivered by the first Rector and founder of the University, Academician of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine Oleksandr Bandurka and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine Serhiy Husarov.

The solemn event was attended by many well-known political figures and scientists in Ukraine and abroad, including: Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Doctor of Law, Professor, Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine Oleg Tatarov, State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Inna Yashchuk, Head of the National Police of Ukraine, Candidate of Law Ivan Vyhivskyi, Head of the Kharkiv Regional Military Administration, Doctor of Law, Associate Professor Oleg Syniehubov, Director of the State Scientific Research Expert and Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine - Head of the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Candidate of Law Serhiy Krymchuk, Head of the Department for the Investigation of International Crimes of the European Union Advisory Mission to Ukraine Mikhal Vyvoda, as well as representatives of the Warsaw University of Technology: Dr. Waldemar Izdebski, Dr. Piotr Krysz and Karol Mirowski.

The conference focused on discussing the current problems of Ukraine in the conditions of martial law and post-war reconstruction, finding ways to develop the state, determining its role and place in the conditions of transformation of legal, economic, social and cultural systems, reforming national legislation and bringing it into line with European standards, the requirements of a market economy and the challenges of geopolitics.

The theses by Mariya Rostotska “Challenges in the Spiritual and Social Spheres under Martial Law” and Kateryna Ryabova “Peculiarities of English-Ukrainian Translation of Legal Texts in the Conditions of and after the End of the Legal Regime of Martial Law: Linguistic, Cultural and Legal Challenges” will be published in the Conference’s Book of Abstracts.
