Learning vocabulary through creating presentations is an effective method that combines learning new vocabulary with practical skills. A presentation can include not only text, but also images, graphics, videos and other multimedia elements. It helps to associate new words with specific objects or situations.
Kateryna Ryabova, a senior teacher of the English Language Department at ESITC, skillfully uses this method with the second-year students of the Educational-Scientific Institute of Management and Entrepreneurship when studying professional vocabulary. The topic “Company Management Organigram” is extremely saturated with new words and acronyms that require further explanation. The students created presentations that helped them delve into business terms and the specifics of company organization looked at the functioning of organizational structures of different types of companies, such as startups, corporations, and even their own fictional companies. It is very important that the words were not presented in isolation, but in context. This made it possible to practice vocabulary related to management, as well as to develop public speaking skills in English.
